We caught the latest Spring/Summer 2019 wedding dress collection live at Bridal Fashion Week in New York, and the gowns were more dazzling in person than ever imagined.

Where past collections have displayed bold appliques and dramatic details, 2019 gets far more intricate, with fine lines, whispy bows and fluttering feathers. The eye-catching collection pulls you in close to admire the finer details, and while the fabrics shimmer with finely dotted sequins and glittering textiles.

I was lucky enough to bring my future hubby along to view the collection (spoiled with a man ready to snap a few photos for the biz!) and exclaimed upon sight of this long-sleeved bodysuit with a sheer sparkling skirt. “For a wedding dress?” he said, my response “Hell yes”.

In fact, the Spring Summer collection featured so many long sleeve winners I began to feel like a convert (from my usual slinky, slip obsession). The sexy deep necklines, tight bodices and hourglass creating silhouettes give a gal searching for long sleeves an option far and away from the usual modest, covered options.

Her iconic tight figure-hugging long sleeve gowns are stellar, but it's the wrap gown that stole the show for me. Modern, sexy, relaxed, glitzy, luxe – basically all the best of Berta, with a little extra wearability.

For a bride digging on the bridal cape trend, Berta delivered. We were wowed by the feathered cape, giving a bridal goddess literal wings.

With whispy bows, and fluttering details, the collection offered a few slightly provocative but totally romantic princess gowns (for modern princess Meghan Markle, perhaps?) Sleeves fell lightly off-the-shoulder and skirts levitated down the runway on the few practically royal wedding dresses.

Plenty of gowns had the fashionable crowd catching their breath but it was the Berta babies (yes, you read that right!) that received unanimous applause. Making good work of her sparkling textiles, whimsical details and masterful construction, but losing the provocation (thankfully) the little ones sported the sweetest, luxe Berta flower girl dresses.

We can't wait to share the entire collection soon (can we all guess the next steamy destination?) for now you can scroll through a few more favorite gowns and backstage snaps, view the last collection coverage and visit Berta online.

10 Adorable Flower Girl Dresses https://bridalmusings.com/115155/10-adorable-flower-girl-dresses/ Tue, 25 Aug 2020 07:00:35 +0000 http://bridalmusings.com/?p=115155

I think flower girl dresses might just be my favourite aspect of wedding day style – when I was getting married, I pinned way more dress options for my niece, than for myself!

There's something just so lovely about a tulle tutu, a cute summer dress, or a fun butterfly number, don't you think?

Your flower girl dresses can be a chance to be a bit playful with the vibe of your wedding, to pair your own more demure or classic style with something colourful or free-spirited, or to create a mini-me look with a dress that's a similar aesthetic to your own.

Don't forget to buy a size or two larger than you need if you're shopping a few months in advance of your big day (kids grow fast!) and make sure you buy something your flower girl will be comfortable in. You don't want to force any child into a fussy tutu if they don't like wearing dresses, and try to avoid itchy or non-breathable fabrics, particularly for younger kids.

To help you get your shopping (and pinning) underway, we've put together an edit of ten sweet and chic flower girl dresses we hope the little ladies in your life will love.

Now, if only I could get some of these in my size!

Over the last few weeks, we've treated our parents, gifted our groomsmen, and splashed out on our girls.

And now it's time to say thanks to the cutest members of any bridal party, the little ones…

The Ultimate Gift Guides for Flower Girls & Ring Bearers

I can’t help but smile from ear to ear when I see a ring bearer or flower girl walk down the aisle.

Let’s be honest, it’s always the littlest members of a wedding party that tend to steal the show. (After the bride and groom, of course!)

There’s no denying that tiny gents look downright adorable in tuxedos or suits. And, of course, little ladies look precious all dolled up.

When it comes to finding gifts for wedding party members, shopping for wee ones is always so much fun.

For girls, I’m all about anything that sparkles. And for boys, I love the idea of stuffing a backpack full of goodies.

If you're on the hunt for gifts that are perfect for kids, take a peek at my nifty gift guides for flower girls and ring bearers.

Boho, Beachy & Super Cute Flower Girl Inspiration https://bridalmusings.com/91981/flower-girl-inspiration/ https://bridalmusings.com/91981/flower-girl-inspiration/#comments Thu, 10 Mar 2016 09:00:47 +0000 http://bridalmusings.com/?p=91981 We've such a fun little shoot for you guys today, from sunny Ibiza, that was simply too sweet not to share.

A boho flower girl photo session, with the coolest bunch of beach kids around, featuring flower crowns, white lace dresses and free-spirited vibes.

It's the creation of (the awesomely named!) Lovers Love Loving, aka design and photography duo Clàudia & Milena, who create unique weddings on the iconic Mediterranean island.

With lots of ideas for dressing the young ones on your big day, and plenty of photo inspiration for super candid snaps, before you scroll down to check it out, read a little more about the idea behind it, from one of the talented Lovers Love Loving ladies.

Over to you Clàudia…

From Lovers Love Loving

For the shoot, we worked with Peta (the bride) and her cute flower girls.

Peta's dress was from Histeric Complements, a nice shop in the center of Ibiza town. Jessie May Young did the hair and make-up for bride and girls, Milena shot the pictures and I painted them with watercolors and ink for the lettering.

With this beautiful shoot, we wanted to encourage couples to invite kids to their weddings and let them participate in the party.

We love kids and we think they can create amazing memories for the couple and the guests.

It's really fun, right? Those watercolour graphics are so pretty – it would make such a nice gift for your flower girls or junior bridesmaids.

I just love the idea of taking candid snaps of the kids at your wedding, rather than trying to make them all line up neatly in a row (it's probably easier for your photographer too!)

And Clàudia's words on having kids at your wedding? So sweet!

Thanks so much to Clàudia & Milena of Lovers Love Loving,  for sharing their flower girl inspiration shoot with us.

Expert Advice: How To Choose a Flower Girl Dress https://bridalmusings.com/87290/flower-girl-dress/ https://bridalmusings.com/87290/flower-girl-dress/#respond Wed, 02 Dec 2015 09:00:46 +0000 http://bridalmusings.com/?p=87290 So all eyes might be on the bride or groom as they walk down the aisle, but we all know the one guaranteed to get the most oohs and aaahs on your wedding day, is your flower girl.

Often the cutest, sweetest, and best-dressed member of your wedding party, dressing your flower girl is an opportunity to indulge your inner child, be a little playful and add another element to your wedding day style. But unless you're used to buying clothes for little ones, it can be tricky.

Luckily we've got the wonderful team from Les Trois Soeurs, (a gorgeous bridal boutique in London, that stocks the prettiest flower girl dresses) to lend their expert advice and top tips…

Great Tips for Flower Girl Dress Shopping | Les Trois Soeurs | Bridal Musings Wedding Blog

Once you have your wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses, you should now have a clear idea of what you’re looking for as far as the overall style of your wedding day.

Now there’s just one more dress you need to take care of and it’s the cutest dress of all: the flower girl dress.

Fortunately, you now know how you and your bridal party will look as you walk down the aisle, so finding the perfect gown for the littlest lady in your group should be a cinch!

Here are some of Les Trois Soeurs’ quick tips for choosing a flower girl dress:

Not the Perfect Fit

Flower girl fittings are a little bit different from wedding and bridesmaid gowns, and that’s a good thing for you!

While your bridal dress needs to fit perfectly to the shape of your body and the hem needs to be just right, with the little ones, you can be more flexible.

Fluid soft silk dresses can loosely skim and don’t worry too much about the hem line, as it's ok for flower girls to have the skirt a little off the ground, even to their ankles or ballerina length.

One Size Up

Because flower girls are usually quite young, there is likely to be some growth between the time that you pick the dress and the wedding day, but don’t worry!

Order a size or two up from what she’s currently wearing (depending on your timings and the age of your little one), and you will be fine.

Bonus knowledge: Made to order dresses from Dessy Girl and Nicki McFarlane are made with about a 1” seam allowance, making them easy to let out if your little darling grows faster than expected.

No Appointment Necessary

Flower girls do not necessarily need to try the dress on for fit before ordering. This means that if you are very stretched for time, you may not have to work a fitting in to your busy schedule.

As the bride, you can pick the dress you want for your flower girl and send her measurements to the stylist or you can even order online from a range of hand selected pieces at Les Trois Soeurs Online Boutique delivered straight to your door.

Alternatively, if you’d prefer to see the flower girl in her dress before you make a final decision, you can have her try it on and get it measured right away on the same day.

Popular Hues

Looking to be on trend? Right now the most popular colour for flower girls is ivory, often paired with a brilliant splash of colour such as blush, coral or pale sage green.

If you have specific colours for your wedding already picked out, consider having a sash designed to highlight that hue and really bring it all together.

The other most popular colours are champagne and full pastel colours like blush and pale blue.

Ask Her Opinion

The full skirt is largely the most popular, usually puffed up with tulle or organza.

This is your little princess, walking down the aisle before you as a miniature version of the bride! Give her the kind of dress she can twirl around in and we’re sure she’ll be overjoyed.

But if you’re flexible on the look for her gown, why not ask? Maybe she wants to look just like you and there’s a smaller version of your dress that she could wear for an extra special look.

Think About the Neckline

If at all possible, choose a dress with straps and a reasonably high neckline.

Not only will this be more comfortable for your flower girl, but it will prevent any embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions on your big day!

Be On Budget

Know your budget – designer flower girl dresses can range in price from £80 to over £350 so there is something for every little princess to feel very special!

The Ultimate Christmas Gift Guide for Flower Girls & Page Boys https://bridalmusings.com/87308/the-ultimate-christmas-gift-guide-for-flower-girls-page-boys/ https://bridalmusings.com/87308/the-ultimate-christmas-gift-guide-for-flower-girls-page-boys/#comments Wed, 02 Dec 2015 12:00:36 +0000 http://bridalmusings.com/?p=87308 Today is a bit of a kid-friendly day here at Bridal Musings (well, it is Christmas!), earlier we brought you our guide to shopping for flower girl dresses, and now we're back with the latest in our series of festive Gift Guides.

Last week we talked gorgeous gifts for the brides and grooms in your life, but today, it's all about the wee ones.

Whether you've got a ring bearer to thank, a flower girl to treat, or just a cute kid you want to buy a gift for, we've put together a string of awesome presents every child will love.

When it comes to shopping for children, it's hard not to go wrong, as long as you keep it fun.

Don't worry about showing off with expensive labels or techy gadgets, oftentimes, the best gifts are the ones that let kids use their imaginations, run wild, or feel like a million bucks (a glitter tiara, please!).

Clothes can be a bit boring for little ones, but if you really want to buy them threads, keep it to fun PJs or fancy dress duds.

It can be hard to know what's age appropriate for certain kids, so look for gifts that will grow with them, like books, board games, or (my very favourite) play tents!

Scroll down to see more cool ideas for kids' Christmas gifts, and check out our nifty widget to shop the selection today.

(And if you've ever taken a trip to a toy shop in December, you'll know you're going to want to stick to shopping online!)
